This training provides practical guidance for employers on how to appropriately respond to service animals in the workplace and public-facing environments.

Led by a service animal expert, this session helps businesses understand what qualifies as a service animal, what questions can legally be asked, and how to handle real-world situations with clarity and confidence. Participants will learn how to navigate accommodation requirements, support employees and customers, and maintain consistent workplace expectations.

Topics include:

  • What defines a service animal under the ADA

  • Legal access, appropriate inquiries, and South Dakota state compliance requirements

  • How to respond to service animals in the workplace and customer settings

  • Understanding behavior expectations and when action may be required
