PTSD, Work, &
Second Chances
June 24, 2026
9:00 AM MT / 10:00 AM CT

June’s West Meets East session will focus on PTSD, disability, resilience, employment, and community reintegration.

This session will explore how PTSD and other life experiences can affect employment, why community reintegration matters, and how workplaces can better understand the value of people who are moving forward after trauma, military service, incarceration, or other significant barriers.

We are honored to welcome Dr. Tom Anez, a disabled combat veteran dedicated to service, rehabilitation, and helping people successfully move forward after major life transitions.

Dr. Anez spent 10 years with the Department of Veterans Affairs in Sioux Falls as a vocational rehabilitation specialist, helping veterans transition to civilian life through employment and education. With more than 20 years of experience in adult and juvenile corrections, he now works as a reentry facilitator, preparing individuals for successful return to the community.

June Session

Dr. Anez brings both personal experience and professional insight to conversations about disability, PTSD, resilience, and second chances. His background offers a meaningful perspective for employers, human resources professionals, supervisors, service providers, and community members who want to better understand how support, opportunity, and practical workplace practices can help people rebuild, work, and contribute.
